Life Coaching

Illustration encouraging open communication between genders.

Why do I need this?

We all go through periods of change.    Loss of a job, a loved one or maybe a divorce, retirement, or the kids have all grown up.    Sometimes we don't realize that there is help.    It can be practical help such as I don't know how to budget or change a tire.   It can also be deep and intensive where we need to change a mindset and reframe our thinking, our attitudes, and our approach to what our next step will be.

What is NLP?

Neuro-Linguistic Programming is a specific method of taking your thoughts (and how you speak to yourself) to understand how it affects you physically which in turn affects your behaviors.   Using highly researched and effective techniques we can re-wire your brain patterns towards a more healthy approach to specific issues as well as life in general.

How is that different from counseling?

Traditional counseling and in particular Christian counseling is a very valuable tool to get to know yourself and deal with past trauma.    Highly trained LPCs can help you work through issues.

Using NLP we will work more with How (do I proceed) more than the Why (am I like this)   We can literally change the way you see a situation thereby changing your mental outlook, which in turn presents itself physiologically, which then affects more positive behaviors.

Depending on your situation this type of coaching may be not quite as intensive or ongoing.   We see outstanding results sometimes in just a few sessions.

I still don't get it

Have you ever heard someone say "i'm a visual learner"?    Consider these three statements that mean basically the same thing.   "Sounds good!" or "looks good!" or "that feels right!"     We all have different preferential senses.   By utilizing that preference to frame the problem, then reframing the same  problem in that preference, then adding in the other senses to that reframing we can change a thought pattern.     Small examples:    Would you like to NOT be afraid of spiders?    Would you like to not be so upset with your job?  Your ex? Would you like to feel like you have a purpose after (blank life event) happened?

We will address the situation getting very specific about our thoughts and defining our goals in language that expresses it properly.

I'm not sure it's right for me. Can I talk to someone?

Absolutely !
